Event: The biennial Haggerty Awards Dinner was held July 28 at the Women’s Club of Wisconsin. During the event, the Haggerty Museum of Art presented the Kairos Award (which recognizes exceptional achievements or advancements in the arts) to Sculpture Milwaukee, and the Patricia B. Apple Award (which honors individuals whose service has made a lasting impact on the Friends of the Haggerty Museum of Art) to Betty Arndt. Now in its fifth year, Sculpture Milwaukee has become a vibrant component of downtown Milwaukee, and a powerful example of the impact that public art can have on an entire community. Marquette University alumnus Betty Arndt is a former vice president of global communications for Johnson Controls and a longtime community volunteer and philanthropist in Milwaukee and Waukesha counties.
Cause: Proceeds from the awards dinner support the Haggerty Museum of Art Fund and the Haggerty Museum of Art. The fund is used for the operation of the museum, including exhibitions, academic and community engagement, collection care and administration.
Purpose: This event was a celebration of the award recipients’ contributions to the arts at Marquette, Milwaukee and beyond.
