Power Showers

Local design firms turn the bathroom staple into a sanctuary of sweet self-care.

These homeowners turned to Wauwatosa’s S.J. Janis Company  Inc. to turn a cramped and dated bathroom into an inviting haven that reflects their worldly style. The Janis team repurposed the room’s original fiberglass shower and linen closet into a luxurious steam shower that the homeowner also uses to relieve fibromyalgia pain. The shower walls and bathroom floor feature Travertine Scabos Stacked Stone tiles, while complementary Field pebble stone adds texture to the shower’s arched ceiling, shampoo niches and floor. A pivoting, transom glass side panel allows the steam to escape. To complete the tranquil space, the team added a Brizo showerhead, hand held shower and transfer valves in a Venetian bronze finish. Finally, a pear tree mural by Pratt & Larson, surrounded by a twisted leaf border and small plaza border, adds additional art and serenity to the space.

>>Renaissance Design & Renovation’s Kris Bilty and Jody Ryg turned these homeowners’ existing shower into a resort-worthy space that makes every shower a luxe experience. Real estate from a hallway closet housed a needed steam unit, and a custom bench seat placed over it to create a specific steam-shower alcove, complete with niche space to hold essential oils that turn the steam shower into a true spa treatment. The space also features a ceiling-mounted rainfall showerhead to supplement the steam. The main shower space also features a rainfall showerhead, along with body jets for added comfort, while  a hand shower area makes rinse offs quick and  simple. RdR tapped American Glass & Window to enclose the shower in glass. Terrazzo Tile & Marble Supply provided the Calacatta Gold tile that Matt Heinrich of Heinrich’s Custom Tile crafted into the shower’s walls, ceiling, flooring and bench seat. Heinrich also created the stunning picture-framed Calacatta Gold Tile art element. Gleaming Toto plumbing fixtures complete the look. MKE
