When was the last time you felt discombobulated, stressed out, or “at your wits end?” For some of us, it was five minutes ago!
Feeling at the mercy of negative outside influences can be paralyzing. The next time you find yourself stuck in this “way station,” try these simple strategies to move forward:
1.Just BREATHE. The breath is a powerful tool in relaxing your mind and body. When you are read to explode, simply take a deep breath in for 4 seconds… hold it for 7…exhale for 8. This allows your body to settle down…as well as your giving your mind a break.
2.Will this MATTER? It’s easy to get caught up in the chaos of the moment and make our current situations mountains when in reality, they are anthills! Asking ourselves if this “situation” is really going to matter tomorrow, next week, or six months from now is a powerful way to settle ourselves down quickly.
3.Focus on the ABUNDANCE. Quickly think of six things to appreciate in your life (if you can pick six from the current day… even better!)
4.Discover the LESSON. Maybe the lesson is you need to tighten up your boundaries with the “takers” in your life. Perhaps, you need to speak up and be your own advocate in a difficult situation. Many times, the source of our frustration isn’t due to others behavior… but instead our REACTION to their behavior.
