▪ I want more time.
▪ I want more joy.
▪ I want more confidence.
When I work with individuals and teams, I ask what I call the "sacred questions"...Who are you? What do you want? How do you want to feel?
Disruption in the forms of overwhelm and discontent occurs when there's an enormous gap between what we desire and what we are actually experiencing.
And this disruption is actually a good thing!
When we find ourselves asking those "sacred questions," even if we don't have the answers right away, it's a signal that we are awake. It means we are ready to look at solutions and begin to feel more grounded in our relationships, work, and our own spirit.
Once we land on our answers, it's simply a matter of making those desires a priority through our every day choices.
Desire: "I want more time." Solution: Do a "time review" of your life, similar to let's say a financial review. Get all your cards out on the table so you can clearly see how you spend your most valuable asset. Perhaps take 3 days next week and journal on an hour by hour account of what you actually did. There might be things that pop out that you can "A.D.D.".... Automate, Delegate or Delete. When you are able to clearly see the landscape of your life, it becomes easier to make shifts and tweaks and before you know it, you actually have the time to read the book, take the walk, or have coffee with a friend.
Desire: "I want more joy." Solution: We really do have the power to create our own realities. When was the last time you did something you love to do? Make a list of 10 things that make you happy... and commit to doing 1 per day for the next ten days. Check your energy level on a scale of 1-10 on Day 1 and Day 10 and you might be surprised.
Desire: "I want more confidence." Solution: Choose to love yourself, plain and simple. Sounds easier said than done? If you struggle with self-criticism and low self-esteem, make the conscious choice to expel the bully.... in your head. When we constantly beat ourselves up over what we did in the past or freak out about the future, we rob ourselves of the absolute perfection of the moment. When we instead embrace "what is" we begin to relax. When we start to relax, we are able to enjoy life more bit by bit. When we enjoy life, we begin to feel inspired. With inspiration comes a love for life, others, and ourselves. With this type of fuel in our minds, bodies, and spirits we begin to exude a calm and secure confidence that is unshakeable.
